Education Connection is poised to offer individuals interested in pursuing teaching degrees online options that will allow them to develop or enhance their skills to meet a growing need for educators.
Online PR News – 05-November-2009 – Boca Raton - As the technological and financial aspects of the American education system change rapidly, current and prospective teachers have more content and methodology than ever to learn.
Education Connection offers resources to research innovations in training, such as online courses and teaching degrees, that are providing these individuals with opportunities to develop or enhance their qualifications and better reach their students.
The benefits of a career in education have become more appealing during the economic downturn. Such benefits will allow more educators of retirement age to end their careers in a timely matter, which could lead several states and non-profit organizations to encourage mid-career professionals to become teachers, according to The Reporter, a North Penn, Pennsylvania-based newspaper.
Consequently, more nontraditional options for education certification are available for those with professional or family commitments. Last year, more than 62,000 teachers across the country received teaching certification through alternative routes, which means they were allowed to enter their classrooms before completing their training, the Center for Education Information Reports.
“Higher Education opens the door, illuminates the path and guides us to the future.”
Such options allow teachers to begin their careers while they fulfill their education requirements through online courses or training programs.
Teachers with alternative education just as effective and sought after
Teachers who entered their professions through alternative means proved to be as effective in reaching their students as those who underwent a traditional education, a recent study from the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance found.
As a result, schools experiencing shortages of qualified teacher are expanding certification options for their employees.
Pennsylvania allows professionals with bachelors degrees participate in its Teacher Intern Program, which permits educators to teach while they take evening or online classes, according to The Reporter.
The state is also one of nine that hire teachers in public schools who have been certified by the American Board of Certification of Teacher Excellence. The non-profit organization offers alternative teaching certification programs that are less expensive and time-consuming than traditional bachelors or masters programs.
Online teaching programs may help prospective teachers prepare for such programs before they enter their classrooms, as only 40 percent of individuals who take the organization's certification exam pass on their first attempt.
Educational methods are constantly changing, and teachers must stay abreast of the latest trends to ensure their students are receiving quality instruction. Online courses may help prospective and experienced educators keep their qualifications up to date and keep their students engaged.
