HOUSTON, April 18, 2011 - Houston bourbon fanciers will have a unique opportunity to sample what has been described as a “lost treasure” when downtown Houston bar Reserve 101 hosts a complimentary tasting of Jefferson’s Kentucky Bourbon products at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening, April 19th.

Among the bourbons to be tasted will be Jefferson’s Presidential Select, a 94- proof, ultra-rare, ultra-premium, 17-year-old bourbon bottled from barrels of whiskey last produced in 1991 by the now-closed Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky, then considered to be one of the finest distilleries in America.

Small batch bourbon producer McLain & Kyne purchased the remaining Stitzel-Weller barrels in 2009 and brought out the aged bourbon to rave reviews under the Jefferson’s Presidential Select name. The exact amount remaining of the previously lost bourbon is unknown, so when it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

Also included in the April 19th tasting, co-sponsored by Dallas distributor Artisnal Beverage Company, will be Jefferson’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Jefferson’s Reserve. Registration for the tasting is available at: .

McLain & Kyne’s other products are from its own distillery in the heart of the bourbon capital of the world, Bardstown, Kentucky. It has the distinction of being the smallest family-owned distillery in the state, founded in the belief that Mark Twain was right: “There is no such thing as too much good whiskey.”

Located downtown at the corner of Caroline and Dallas, across from House of Blues, Reserve 101 stocks over 170 brands of premium whiskey, “the best selection in this part of the country,” according to co-owner and whiskey expert Mike Raymond. Other liquors, Martinis, Signature Cocktails, special infusions, beer and wine are also available.

The establishment holds complimentary Tuesday Tastings of liquor, beer and wine, often hosted by brand ambassadors such as Jim Beam’s great-grandson Fred Noe. Reserve 101 is open seven days a week. “Happy Hour,” with dollar-off beers and wines and half-price Signature Cocktails runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with specials just about all the time, including Sundays.

More information about Reserve 101 and whiskeys is available by contacting info@Reserve101.com .
