The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance will host H.C. Morris’ collection of Bonneville TT Specials, which is complete with an example of every year’s production from 1963 through 1967, one of just two complete collections in the world.

Online PR News – 17-May-2011 –New York, New York (17 May 2011) - One of only two complete Triumph Bonneville TT Special motorcycle collections in the world will amaze onlookers at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance on June 4-5, 2011 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut. These racing bikes are some of the most famous and successful racing motorcycles, having won more American TT Scrambles -- races staged on dirt courses typically through woodsy areas with mild jumps -- from the early 1960s through the early ‘70s. The Bonneville TTs also became fierce competitors on dragstrips.

The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance will host H.C. Morris’ collection of Bonneville TT Specials, which is complete with an example of every year’s production from 1963 through 1967, one of just two complete collections in the world. The Bonneville TT Specials won with riding royalty like Jim Odom, Eddie Mulder, Sid Payne, and Dusty Coppage, but Skip Van Leeuwen was first among equals of the era, winning four National TT races in the 1960s and many more regionals in Southern California.

Even though Triumph was (and still is) a British manufacturer, the TT Special was built for America at the request of the Western U.S. distributor for the company soon after the 650cc Bonneville debuted in 1959. Riders and racers instantly recognized that ’59 big-bore Bonneville as a promising basis for modifications and winning races.

Triumph improved the stripped-down-for-racing bike throughout its life even more with reconfigured fuel tanks, lighter components, higher-compression and more powerful engines, yet they were always a little heavy, especially over jumps.

“Those of us who raced TT Specials back in the day were a bunch of pretty strong dudes,” remarks Eddie Mulder.

The 2011 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance sponsored by Automobile Magazine will also feature a special two-day centerpiece of stunning, seldom-seen, Euro-American exotic cars. These cross-Atlantic hybrids include a Dual Ghia, Facel Vega, Cunningham C-3, Iso Grifo, Cobra, Allard P1, Hudson Italia, Fitch Phoenix and a Nash Healy and more. Show-goers on both days will be able to see them.

Also, on this 50th Anniversary of the stunning Jaguar E-Type sports car -- declared the most beautiful car ever made by numerous authorities and one of only two cars on permanent display at the Museum Of Modern Art -- Greenwich will have a dedicated circle of E-Types on view.

Echoing the dirt theme set by the Triumph racing bikes, the newly restored "Baja Boot" off-road truck racer once run by actor Steve McQueen will be on exhibit at Greenwich.

Modern machines from Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Lexus, Ferrari, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Fisker and McLaren will bring everyone into the 21st Century, including limited test drives.

Greenwich will also host a regatta for former America's Cup 12-meter yachts. A limited number of spectators can take a short sail. They can also board the very latest Sunseeker yacht.

AmeriCares, the international relief organization top-ranked by Money magazine, has been the charitable beneficiary of the Concours since 1996.

Hours are 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $25 for one day, $40 for both days. Children 12 and under are free. Lunch is available on-site and parking is free. Immediately off Exit 3 of I-95 in Connecticut, the Greenwich Concours is also accessible by train, plane, and boat. Check the Concours web site at GreenwichConcours.com, or call 203-618-0460 or for further information.
