Barksdale Home Health Care Services Announces New Job Training Division; 11 million healthcare jobs currently in U.S., 2.8 million projected
Online PR News – 23-May-2011 –Rosa Kittrell Barksdale, CEO of Barksdale Home Healthcare Services, with
her daughter Kelly Davis want to make the most of today’s healthcare
boom. They plan to launch Barksdale Training Corp. this month. The
school, which is licensed by the New York State Department of Education
to provide training courses leading to a Home Care Aide certification,
will be a new division of Barksdale Home Care Services Corp, a
Pelham-based company known as one of Westchester County’s most respected
home health care agencies, founded and operated by Rosa Barksdale 30
years ago. With 11 million jobs currently in the healthcare field and 2.8
million more projected in the next few years, Barksdale Training Corp
will provide professional training to those seeking to enter the health
care field so that they will be prepared to work independently, in health
care agencies, organizations and in hospitals.
“This is a natural expansion of our home care agency and a great way to
ensure the best training available. Our goal is that they all become
top-notch health care professionals who we may someday hire,” says Kellye
Davis, who is heading up the launch of the Barksdale TrainingCorp and is
Vice President of Barksdale Home Health Care Services.
The Barksdale Training program, will include a combination of lecture,
discussion, audio-visual and hands-on demonstration. Classes and training
will be held in the on-site training lab at the Barksdale Home Care
Services facility in Pelham, NY. Students will learn the most current
personal care techniques for nutrition, physical and personal emotional
support, and they will learn how to recognize the early warning signs of
health issues and illness. In addition, special care for children and
those with special needs will be part of the instruction, as well as
training for specific healthcare organizations and employment referral
agencies, such as Cerebral Palsy of Hudson Valley, the Workforce
Investment Board and other agencies seeking trained healthcare providers.
Certification for a Home Health Aide is an 83 hour program that can be
completed in just three weeks. A 40-hour Personal and Home Care Aide
certification can be completed in one week.
Founded in 1982, Rosa Barksdale, now age 72, opened Barksdale 30 years
ago as a one-room operation with just one employee. Today, the Company is
a profitable home health care business with 248 part-time and full-time
para-professionals, three field nurses, a Director of Nursing Education,
an eight member Board of Quality Assurance and a Director of Client and
Patient Services.

roughly 2.8 percent of the U.S. population because of acute illness,
long-term health conditions, permanent disability or terminal illness. Of
all recipients, 68.6 percent are over the age of 65, and 62.3 percent are
women. The industry grew by 13% each year between 2006-2008. In this era
