Elk River Tire and Auto is now offering specialized full automotive service and automotive repair on imports of various makes and models. This full service auto shop has taken a big step forward by installing new software to be used by their trained auto mechanic, providing them with the knowledge and understanding of each type of vehicle that needs an automotive repair. Here’s a list of some of the European imports (Volkswagen, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Saab, Volvo), and some Asian imports (Subaru, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Acura) included in their automotive service.
The service center’s newly installed software allows their trained technicians to test multiple vehicle systems; such as engine systems, transmission systems, anti-lock brake systems (ABS) and airbags (SRS). The functional and component tests provided by this software allow for diagnostics and troubleshooting which assists the auto mechanic to determine the type of automotive repair required for your import vehicle.
Here’s the way it works--the software establishes a data link between the scan tool and the electronic control systems of the vehicle being serviced. This link allows the technician to view diagnostic trouble codes, as well as serial data available from the electronic control module. Of course, the amount and type of information and tests available with the software varies by the year, make, and model and equipment options of the test vehicle. With this software, the technician can interpret electronic module trouble codes, read input and output signals, test systems, check the operation of certain components, and record and view sections of specific data to determine the type of automotive repairs required.
