Infiniti to Debut Mid-Engine Electric Sports Car

Lauderdale, Florida, is pleased to inform all Infiniti fans that the carmaker is planning to debut its mid-engine two-seater electric sports car at next year’s Geneva auto show.
If this new car is at all produced, it will be the first mid engine vehicle from either Infiniti or Nissan to make it into production. The company’s earlier attempt was the Nissan MID4 that was cancelled in the 1980s. The car is likely to be a range extended EV and most probably use technology from Nissan’s Leaf Nismo RC purpose built electric racer. 
If the new car is going to borrow some of its electric performance features from the Leaf Nismo RC, it can be expected that it will be powered by lithium ion batteries found in the standard Leaf. Further, a small-capacity gasoline engine range-extender may occupy the space between the front and rear axles, giving the car the mid-engine distinction that Nissan so desires. Like other extended-range EVs, the internal combustion engine in this forthcoming  car will take over when the batteries are exhausted, and will thus act as a supplementary generator for the car’s electric motor. 
The latest scoop is that Red Bull Racing may collaborate with Infiniti for the development of this new upcoming electric car. We will be looking forward to the debut of this new car from Infiniti which is scheduled to make its debut next March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
