New Bedford, MA - Ford Motor Company and Ashley Ford partnered to help raise money in support of GNBVT High School's After Prom, as part of Ford's Drive One 4UR School program. Members of the local community helped raise $4290 by test driving one of many Ford models that were on hand. Ashley Ford worked with GNBVT to host the one-day event on Sat., Oct. 15th. Nearly 160 people got behind the wheel of this important cause. For each participant who came from a unique household, Ford and Ashley Ford donated $20 per test drive and an additional $10 for a second test drive of the new 2012 Ford Focus.
"We were happy to sponsor this event with Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech," stated Robert Bancroft, President of Ashley Ford. "We were especially pleased about the safety component that was incorporated by the In Control Crash Prevention Training Team. This organization teaches drivers how to avoid common and often serious accidents. They will be offering a 10% discount to all drivers who enroll in their classes as a result of this event."
"We were thrilled when Ashley Ford contacted the school and offered to host a Drive One program for us," stated Jenn Gaspar, Media Technology teacher at GNBVT and After Prom committee member. "In this economy, it is difficult raising money for activities like our school's After Prom. This is a fantastic program and we were so pleased to have raised nearly $4300 for this important cause to help keep our kids safe."
Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4UR School program in 2007, more than $7 million in donations have been generated nationwide and nearly $100,000 have been raised for Massachusett's high schools.
"At the end of the day, this event was all about the students," said Mr. Bancroft. "The entire staff here at Ashley Ford is honored that we could do our part to help raise funds for GNBVT After Prom."
