Pliska Receives Public Service Award from Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants

Online PR News – 21-November-2011 –The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and its President and CEO Peggy A. Dzierzawski, CAE, recently recognized Robert J. Pliska at its annual awards dinner with the Public Service Award. The evening celebrated those who have made an impact in the accounting industry and in the community.
The Bloomfield Hills resident was awarded for his dedication to the betterment of his community outside of his role as a CPA. He is a past chairman of the organization’s public service committee.
“Robert Pliska has used his own personal experiences to help better the community at large,” said Dzierzawski, CAE. “Everyone who knows him is absolutely astounded at the work he does for so many, while asking for nothing in return. He is truly an inspirational role model.”
Pliska is the owner and managing director of Sperry Van Ness/Property Investment Advisors, LLC. During his three-decade career, he has served as manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, president of Property Services Group and senior vice president at Lambrecht Realty Company, among others.
A staple in numerous professional and non-professional organizations, Pliska’s participation has ranged from an active member to president or chair of the board of directors. His professional involvement has included: the International Council of Shopping Centers; National Association of Realtors; Michigan Association of Realtors, where he received the Realtor of the Year award; Commercial Board of Realtors; Real Estate Roundtable – Detroit; Economic Club of Detroit; and Counselors of Real Estate of the National Association of Realtors.
Personally, he is active at St. Hugo of the Hills, Mass for Commerce, Birmingham Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, FairlaneClub, Michigan Bach, Guest House, International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit, Holy Cross Children’s Services and Childhelp USA.
Pliska received a bachelor’s degree, with honors from the University of Detroit and a MBA from Michigan State University. An author and public speaker, his public recognition has included the Humanitarian Award and Achiever’s Award from Sperry Van Ness and the Realtor of the Year Award from the State of Michigan.
