Online PR News – 06-March-2012 –Amazon.com Bestselling Author Jason Andrew Bond has committed 25% of the profits from sales of his debut novel Hammerhead to support disabled United States Veterans.
““I’m proud to partner with these organizations,” Mr. Bond states. “I’ve been a supporter of them for many years, and I consider them incredibly important for what they provide to those who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation.””
Hammerhead found its way to the Amazon.com Science Fiction/Fantasy bestseller list within a few months of its release largely through reader recommendations. The central character in Hammerhead, Jeffrey Holt, is a combat veteran from a near-future war whose path to resolution after the war is a key theme in the narrative. Mr. Bond states that he had no idea Hammerhead would ring so well with veterans and is humbled by the many positive e-mails he has received. “Family and friends who have served, as well as authors such as Tim O’Brien, inspired me to do my best when depicting military personnel and their experiences. To have those who have lived through war tell me I did a decent job means the world to me.”
Sgt. Sean Rogers, U.S. Army, wrote to Mr. Bond: “It was nice to read a science fiction novel with a military aspect that actually had a lot of things right. Being in the Army, it is very hard to read some books because people are not able to portray the military in a way that seems realistic. You have done a phenomenal job…”
Mr. Bond has been a long-time supporter of veterans through various charitable organizations; however, with Hammerhead’s success, Mr. Bond has found himself in a position to do more. “Due to the themes in the novel, the audience it has found, and the fact that we have a lot of injured veterans returning home, I’ve decided to make a stronger commitment.”
For all sales of Hammerhead from March 1st onward, Mr. Bond will donate 25% of the profits to support disabled U.S. veterans through key charitable organizations. “I’m proud to partner with these organizations,” Mr. Bond states. “I’ve been a supporter of them for many years, and I consider them incredibly important for what they provide to those who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation.”
