Online PR News – 13-July-2012 – Wrightsville Beach, NC – We are incredibly proud to be included on this list, which was created in honor of Wrightsville Beach’s 110th anniversary by Wrightsville Beach’s premier magazine. While we offer programs in many locations, Wrightsville Beach, NC is our home. For Surf Camp to be recognized in such a way is an honor and a privilege. Whether a resident or tourist, Wrightsville Beach means so much to thousands of people and we are just so lucky to call this quaint beachtown home.
For the past eight years, our company has introduced thousands of people of all ages to the wonders of the ocean (Our founder started teaching surfing on it’s shores long before that). Our mission statement strives to educate all of our students about how important it is to respect and care for not just our local beaches, but all coastal ecosystems. Our summer camp counselors and students have picked up hundreds of pounds of trash from it’s beach. Our certified team of surf instructors have saved or averted countless ocean rescues while educating students on rip currents and the importance of sunscreen.
A testimonial from Carlen from Scarborough, Maine: “So much more than just surfing took place at Surf Camp. I learned so much about marine life and why it’s so important to protect our beaches. Going to the Sea Turtle Hospital was an eye opening experience for me. I came back determined to go to the University of North Carolina, Wilmington for college and possibly even study marine biology.”
