Online PR News – 13-July-2012 –We are incredibly proud to be included on this list, which was created in honor of Wrightsville Beach’s 110th anniversary by Wrightsville Beach’s premier magazine. While we offer programs in many locations, Wrightsville Beach, NC is our home. For Surf Camp to be recognized in such a way is an honor and a privilege. Whether a resident or tourist, Wrightsville Beach means so much to thousands of people and we are just so lucky to call this quaint beachtown home.

For the past eight years, our company has introduced thousands of people of all ages to the wonders of the ocean (Our founder started teaching surfing on it’s shores long before that). Our mission statement strives to educate all of our students about how important it is to respect and care for not just our local beaches, but all coastal ecosystems. Our summer camp counselors and students have picked up hundreds of pounds of trash from it’s beach. Our certified team of surf instructors have saved or averted countless ocean rescues while educating students on rip currents and the importance of sunscreen.

It is our belief that if we can change just one person’s life in a positive way, showing them the wonders of the ocean, then they will forever take better care of it. So yes, our mission statement is a bit self centered. We love this place and especially love surfing in Wrightsville Beach’s clean water, so the more peple we can get stoked, the better chance we have to conserve our coastal environment. What is even better is that we know we have changed many lives in this way, and we could not have done it without the help of the local community giving us their everlasting support. Thank you Wrightsville Beach! Link to article: Click here

A testimonial from Carlen from Scarborough, Maine: “So much more than just surfing took place at Surf Camp. I learned so much about marine life and why it’s so important to protect our beaches. Going to the Sea Turtle Hospital was an eye opening experience for me. I came back determined to go to the University of North Carolina, Wilmington for college and possibly even study marine biology.”
