Alberta Cal Ripken Selects Announces Final Roster for 2012 12U Cal Ripken World Series

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, August 10, with Team Canada’s first game slated for Saturday, August 11 at 7:30 p.m., when they take the field against perennial powerhouse Mexico.
The organization, named for Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken, is a division of Babe Ruth International. Cal Ripken spent twenty-one seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, and holds the MLB Ironman record at 2,632 consecutive games. As an avid supporter of youth baseball, #8 hosts the 12/70 World Series each August at his spectacular complex in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Currently, over 700,000 kids aged 5 to 12 play Cal Ripken Baseball worldwide. Cal Ripken Baseball has accumulated a seven per cent annual growth rate since 1999, making it a premiere, and internationally respected baseball league.
The Cal Ripken World Series is held once a year, inviting ten U.S. teams and six international teams - Canada, Mexico, Australia, Dominican Republic, Japan, and South Korea. To be eligible to play in the 2012 Cal Ripken World Series, athletes must be 12 or younger as of April 30 this year.
At the Canadian Qualification event, held July 19-20, 2012, Alberta Cal Ripken Selects earned the right to don the Maple Leaf after defeating BC White Rock Selects 2-0 in a best-of-three series, which was played at Okotoks, AB.
