Online PR News – 10-March-2010 –On Saturday, March 13th 2010, more than 100 people who quit smoking with the help of electronic cigarettes will meet at ”Vapefest 2010” at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fredericksburg. The attendees, who refer to themselves as “vapers,” are coming from all over the country to attend the event, which is the first of its kind. Hosting the event is the National Vapers Club, a consumer-based, volunteer organization that has local chapters throughout the country. The group was formed to educate smokers, the public, legislators, and public health organizations about electronic cigarettes or, as members prefer to call them, “nicotine vaporizers.” The organization is supported entirely through member donations. “The response to ‘Vapefest 2010’ has been overwhelming,” said Spike Babaian, president of National Vapers Club. “Vapers believe, as do many health experts, that nicotine vaporizers are saving their lives.” Vapefest is being sponsored by ten e-cigarette vendors who will demonstrate and sell products at the event. There will be raffles throughout the day to win e-cigarette kits and promotional items donated by the vendors and National Vapers Club. Bill Godshall, executive director of Smokefree Pennsylvania said, “People who quit smoking using the patch or gum have never organized an event to express their enthusiasm and excitement about it. Smokers are amazed at how easy this device makes it to transition from smoking to vaping.” “I’m thrilled to be able to meet other vapers,” said Shannon Wright of North Carolina who will attend the conference. “We know each other from online forums, but this will be the first time most of us have met face-to-face. I’m amazed at how easy this device has made it to stop smoking after so many years. It seems that within a few days of switching from smoking to vaping, people find that cigarettes taste awful, which is a really good thing!” Vapefest will be the first event of its kind and will occur annually. Details and information can be found at www.Vapefest.com. All the money raised from raffles will cover the cost of the conference and any excess will be donated to Vapers International Research Group (www.VapersInternational.org) for continued research.
