Online PR News – 16-August-2012 – Hatfield – Datum Colour Print, Hertfordshire’s leading print and communications specialist, is delighted to showcase a number of innovative digital printing services that have recently been produced for clients.
Working with both an HP® IndigoTM 3050 and a Konica® MinoltaTM Biz Hub C253 digital printing system, Datum has been able to produce a number of different projects which might have seemed impossible in the early days of digital print technology. Rather than working purely on relatively standard items such as business cards and A4 or A5 brochures and folders, Datum’s expertise and superior equipment has enabled the company to produce a wide range of specialist products. These include CD wallets, wine sleeve boxes, pillow packs, mug boxes, tent cards and business card boxes.
The advantages of digital print over conventional print are now well known and include the ability to order short runs without prohibitive costs, greater consistency of colour and the opportunity to personalise each item. However, Datum is taking digital print to a whole new level by printing on a variety of materials using speciality inks and various sizes.
Datum is now able to use digital print on a wide range of materials including PVC, clear window graphics, perforated window vinyls and foam backed board. This has expanded the company’s ability to handle projects for its retail clients, enabling Datum to provide window graphics, which for example, precisely match its Point of Sale materials and brochures. The capability to print onto foam backed board is also very useful for both Point of Sale (POS) and exhibitions, where boards can be attached to exhibition stands using magnets, creating booths that are quick to assemble and strike at the end of a show.
The latest digital print machinery is also capable of adding special inks such as metallic colours. This has been invaluable for Datum’s high end retail clients, in particular a major jewellery brand that uses the company to create elegant Point of Sale materials.
Lastly, sizes have freed up, with Datum able to use its wide format inkjet digital print machinery to create internal and external posters, PVC banners, backlit posters and display boards. This is a considerable development compared to the early days of digital print when sizes were much more restricted.
Datum’s Joint Owner Scott Pearce comments, “Digital Print was an evolution in the printing world, enabling short run print projects to be executed at a realistic price with a level of personalisation that was previously very expensive. We’re now entering a world where, with the right equipment and expertise it is possible to use digital to print in a variety of sizes on some really interesting materials and using very attractive inks. With our background in conventional litho print, Datum has the expertise to push the technology to the max, something that others may find a little too challenging. This produces excellent results for our clients at a very reasonable cost.”
Esme Whybrow, Business Development Manager at BlackBox Productions’ UK offices has seen these advantages for herself. BlackBox Productions is an international provider of bespoke retail displays to major brands including TaylorMade®, Adidas®, Nike® JordanTM and Helly Hansen®. BlackBox work with a variety of materials such as wood, plastics, metals and rubber and use skilled engineers to produce completely unique displays. The company has commissioned Datum to produce a variety of digital print projects on their behalf which integrate into their systems. “As a provider of very bespoke, high quality display units to our clients, the quality of any printed material has to be totally consistent and very much on-brand. We have been delighted with the service we have received from Datum. Their work has been of the highest standard and we have always felt assured by the service that we have received.”
