Online PR News – 16-August-2012 – GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania – Volvo unveiled a new innovative app that uses the technology of the new 2013 Volvo V40 turn an iPad or iPhone into an X-Ray scanner at the Geneva Motor Show recently.
With the new X-Ray app, users get a full 360-degree view of the inner components of the Volvo V40. The app also includes short videos that put you in the driver’s seat. Curious consumers will get the chance to experience the app developed by digital agency La Comunidad Miami as it is showcased at Volvo dealers around the world.
The 2013 Volvo V40 also premiered at the Geneva Motor Show. The five-door hatchback is a combination of the outgoing S40 and V50 models. It will be offered in a variety of diesel and gasoline engines including a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel I-4 that produces 115 horsepower, 199 lb-ft of torque, and 94 grams of carbon diameter per kilometer. The top-of-the-line engine will be the T5, a 2.5-liter I-5 that produces 254 horsepower, making the V40 T5 able to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds.
Four other engine options will be available including a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 in both 150- and 180-hp forms, and a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel I-5 in 155- and 177-hp guises.
All of the Volvo V40 trims will come with brake energy regeneration and an engine start/stop system. They also are equipped with the City Safety system complete with Pedestrian Safety function. It also comes with a pedestrian airbag, a world first, that will reduce pedestrian injuries should the car not stop in time to avoid a collision.
Other safety features include a Cross Traffic Alert radar system that helps the driver back out of a parking spot and see traffic coming from both sides and an improved Blind Spot Information System that warns the driver of vehicles located in the driver’s blind spots as well as vehicles approaching rapidly from the rear.
The interior of the car comes equipped with Bluetooth streaming and handsfree mobile connectivity, a navigation system, and a mobile app that can find your car in a parking lot, lock and unlock doors and provide a log of your journey.
Production of the V40 started in May, and the cars are only being sold in Europe for the time being.
