CICS’ Quick Guide to Product Carbon Footprinting
CICS has produced a new ‘Quick Guide’ to Product Carbon Footprinting.
Online PR News – 01-September-2012 – UK – CICS has produced a new ‘Quick Guide’ to Product Carbon Footprinting. The guide, which is free to download on their website, has been put together to help clients to appreciate the benefits of having a product carbon footprint and to distinguish between the two standards that can be used – PAS 2050 and the WRI/WBCSD Product Lifecycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (the GHG Product Standard).
CICS offers assurance of product carbon footprints to the two standards and has recently verified the carbon footprint of Forest Pennant’s natural stone paving, allowing the company to achieve certification to PAS 2050. In achieving conformance to this standard, Forest Pennant were also able to use CICS’ Assurance Mark which shows that the footprint has been independently verified by CICS to an international standard.
Shaun Bainbridge, Director at CICS, said:
“An increasing number of our clients are choosing to measure the carbon footprint of their product in order to both prove their commitment to reducing their impact on the environment and to distinguish their product from competitors’. It also helps them to identify where their business can be more efficient in terms of improved processes, reduced costs and increased profitability.
“What independent verification adds is the assurance that the footprint is accurate, giving a firm basis to reduce it moving forwards. It also signals to your stakeholders that the data you are providing is credible and valid.”
