Free consumer searches and recovery assistance for the $1 trillion in unclaimed property.
Online PR News – 18-September-2012 – PHOENIX, Arizona and AGAWAM, Massachusetts – Nonprofit organizations LostMoney.com and Cambridge Credit Counseling are combining their professional expertise in an initiative designed to assist millions of Americans. The organizations will work in partnership to help consumers locate monies "unclaimed property" owed to them from various state and federal entities, and introduce them to proper money management practices. The program will also assist consumers struggling with foreclosures and high levels of credit card debt incurred over the past four years of economic decline.
According to Wayne Warrington, Consumer Advocate for LostMoney.com, more than 60% of consumers who come to LostMoney for assistance also have other financial hurdles to overcome. While finding monies owed to them helps, these consumers also need appropriate advice to regain control of their finances.
According to Warrington, "Because we’re a free consumer service, our partnership with Cambridge will allow LostMoney to provide additional support through our unique consumer reports. During this process we are also able to recommend the services of Cambridge Credit to serve consumers struggling with debts in this challenging economic climate.”
“Strategic partnerships help nonprofits amplify their message, allowing many more consumers to identify safe and reliable services,” stated Christopher Viale, Cambridge’s President and CEO. “We look forward to assisting LostMoney’s visitors with their financial needs.”
LostMoney.com was founded in 1996 as a consumer assistance site for the recovery of unclaimed property in North America. Today, with over a million consumers in its active member base, and 8 out of 10 adult Americans having a claim for unclaimed property, LostMoney's mission is to expand its consumer base to over 10 million. These consumers will be provided with free reports each month as new unclaimed accounts are identified. LostMoney.com is funded through a private foundation along with a small group of sponsors that are each dedicated to protecting consumer rights alone with protecting them from additional loss of assets to the various unclaimed property funds.
