Gilbert’s Foods’ Lamb Henry is Flavour of the Month
Gilbert’s Foods, a leading supplier of quality meat and poultry dishes to the foodservice sector, has reported a 25% increase in demand for its Lamb Henry joint in Rosemary and Mint sauce.
Online PR News – 25-September-2012 – Lancashire – Gilbert’s Foods, a leading supplier of quality meat and poultry dishes to the foodservice sector, has reported a 25% increase in demand for its Lamb Henry joint in Rosemary and Mint sauce.
A traditional Lamb Henry dish uses economical cuts such as shanks and shoulder and with cost-effective cuts of meats seeing a surge in popularity within the foodservice sector, Gilbert’s Foods aims to build on this growth during the winter months.
The traditional, slow-cooked, individual lamb joints are made using the finest New Zealand lamb, to a unique recipe designed by the team of development chefs at Gilbert’s Foods.
Quick and easy for busy chefs to prepare, the individual portions of lamb can be cooked using the sous-vide method for 20-25 minutes or in the microwave on full power for six minutes. The portions are ready to be heated from frozen or from room temperature. Once cooked, chefs simply cut across the top of the bag then pour the meat and its sauce onto a serving plate.
Available in 1.8kg cases, with six individual 300g portions per case, the versatile fully-cooked Lamb Henrys are available in frozen or ambient format so are ideal for chefs to store. Plus, the quality, taste and texture of each product is guaranteed for up to 12 months when kept in a freezer or cold store.
Chefs can experiment with presentation techniques and accompaniments or serve with roasted or mashed potatoes and garden vegetables, as the sauce gives the dish a flavoursome gravy.
Lamb Henry’s from Gilbert’s Foods will add appeal to menus in hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars, catered events and other foodservice outlets.
Peter Smith, managing director at Gilbert’s Foods, says: “There are many under-used and under-valued cuts of meat that deserve more attention, not least because they can be cost-effective and versatile without compromising on taste. Our Lamb Henry is a great example of this and our customers in the foodservice sector understand the benefits of offering quality, yet economical dishes on the menu.
“We put the popularity of our Lamb Henry down to the fact that consumers want foods that combine traditional fare with quality, modern flavour combinations as well as value for money, and our product delivers on all these aspects. By investing in top quality meal centres, chefs can effectively recreate classic dishes in a matter of minutes to meet consumer demand for home-cooked style foods.
“Our range is specifically designed for the foodservice sector and the Rosemary and Mint Lamb Henry was developed following customer demand for a quality, easy to prepare, classic lamb dish. The product is suitable for a range of dining occasions, from Sunday roasts and mid-week family dinners, through to parties and large-scale catered events.
“Our team of chefs has worked hard to ensure the dish offers the ideal combination of flavours and quality, tender meat that diners will love. The success of this product will drive the company forwards as we continue to expand the business and become a major player in the UK food industry.”
