When Karen Mercer of FairyDust Faces moved to the East Coast several years ago she walked into a new business environment. Her entrepreneurial agility has not gone unnoticed and was recently awarded the Serial Entrepreneur of 2012 by the business association, E2E Connect. The Dandi awards which honor the entrepreneurial spirit, dedication, achievement and community involvement of small business owners took place at Goodwood Museum & Gardens on Sept 28, 2012.

Mercer explained while her flagship business, FairyDust Faces(http://www.FairyDustFacePainting.com); face painting and temporary tattoos for all occasions, continues to be popular at events, festivals and private parties she has expanded her business base to include a sweat resistant face paint for humid days, and an airbrush tattoo division (http://www.TatooShooter.com) which is marketed towards teens. She has added a separate business entity that retails face and body art products (http://www.FacePaintShop.com) to other professional body artists and tailgaters, as well as a body painting brand (http://www.SparkBodyPainting.com) that is booked by everyone from models to haunted houses and corporations looking to market themselves in a unique way. In fact, the FSU dancers performing at the Dandi awards were painted by Mercer’s body artists.

“I’m thrilled that E2E Connect has recognized my team and the work we do. Not only are we spreading the love of art and the dynamic nature of body art but we are helping make our community the great place that it is. We’ve worked with everyone from the Tallahassee Museum to the Refuge House, Lichgate Gardens, the Junior League and the LeMoyne Arts Center. Next week we will be volunteering with the YMCA and LaFayette Art Center helping raises awareness of those great community assets” Mercer explained.

Karen Mercer, founding artist of FairyDust Faces, is committed to the success of art instruction in public schools and to the success of local youth organizations. She has taught face painting in schools as well as ‘storytelling for children.’ Mercer is also the co-founder of the North Florida Face Painters Guild a non-profit, educational organization for face and body artists.
