Timbrook Chevrolet Unveils New App for the Chevrolet Volt
Timbrook Chevrolet in Keyser, WV educates customers on the all-new EcoHub app for the Chevy Volt.
Online PR News – 13-October-2012 –General Motors recently unveiled its all-new EcoHub app made exclusively for the Chevrolet Volt. Timbrook Chevrolet is excited at the opportunity to offer EcoHub in the future, which was to help drivers track personal driving stats and energy use.
The EcoHub app allows drivers to track what it costs to charge the Volt, and even allows them to compare the cost to other appliances in their home. The app gives a daily breakdown of energy cost for the Volt as well as the household as a whole.
Chevrolet is able to collect information about the vehicle’s performance from OnStar and utilizes energy data from either the local electric company or a smart meter company. The EcoHub app is so revolutionary and practical that experts believe it will begin to appear in more electric vehicles.
“Down the line, we hope this app can be a beneficial tool for all drivers of electric vehicles,” said Paul Pebbles, global manager, Electric Vehicle and Smart Grid Services.
Although the public release of EcoHub will be around a year away, consumers are excited about other new advancement taking place for the Volt; specifically, the improved efficiency for the 2013 model year.
The 2013 Volt will be able to travel up to 38 miles on a single charge, which is three miles further than the 2012 model. Because the Volt is both electric and gasoline powered, its total range will be about 380 miles. The gasoline engine is able to power the car for roughly 340 miles once the charge is depleted.
“The best way to explain what we’ve done at the cell level is to compare it to a cake batter recipe,” said Bill Wallace, GM’s director of global battery systems engineering. “Sometimes if you use more sugar and less vanilla you get a better tasting cake. We’ve done some work at the cell level to modify the ‘ingredients’ to make a better end result.”
