Online PR News – 16-October-2012 –CANONSBURG, PA – OCTOBER 15, 2012 - Starting today, over 200 stores in the Pittsburgh region will be selling “Have a Heart Chocolates” produced by Sarris Candies. Each box sells for $5 and all proceeds of the specialty box sales will benefit the Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

“It’s a great cause and we’re happy to make this happen,“ said Bill Sarris, owner of the Canonsburg chocolate company. The inaugural promotion is expected to generate over $100,000 in donations going right to the Heart Institute. “Each parent and every grandparent in Pittsburgh is comforted with the knowledge that the best quality care for the children in their lives can be found right in their backyard.”

Each heart-shaped box includes a Peanut Butter Meltaway, a Chocolate Covered Cashew and a Chocolate Covered Caramel. Sarris produced 30,000 boxes in its first production run, but hopes the demand is so great that they have to make more sooner than expected.

This promotion helps fund the Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital, which provides advanced, experienced, and comprehensive cardiac care to children, teens and adults with congenital heart disease (CDH). Physicians and staff work with more than 17,000 patients with CDH and their families every year toward the common goal of helping children, teens and adults with CHD live their lives to the fullest.

“The heart-shaped box of Sarris Candies is a perfect representation of the care provided at the Heart Institute at Children’s and the community that supports it, as well as the generous heart of the Sarris Family,” said Greg Barrett, president, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation “Partnering with Sarris Candies connects the region’s best-loved chocolates and a leading provider of world-class health care. We’re thrilled with the excitement, energy, and dedication Bill Sarris brings to this promotion.”
