Online PR News – 19-October-2012 – Los Angeles, CA – Thursday October 18th, over one hundred well educated senior community members came out to hear a speaking engagement featuring Dr. Rajesh Khanna. The event was held by Los Robles hospital and medical center, and is a part of their health chat series, which features a variety of local doctors, that can offer valuable medical advice to community members. During the informative health chat, Dr. Khanna discussed the significance and development of cataracts, and the most promising and advanced treatment, called prelex.
Dr. Khanna began the discussion by explaining the structure of the eye and the changes that occur overtime. One of the most experienced eye aliments is cataracts; more than 20.5 million Americans over the age of 45, are affected by cataracts each year. So what is a cataract? A cataract is the natural deterioration of the lens. This process can cause blurry vision, and if the cataract is advanced, it can cause the patient severe vision difficulty. Common treatments that are often recommended include drops, and vitamins. But Dr. Khanna asserts that neither of these options will provide lasting results, nor improve the patientís quality of life.
Instead, Dr. Khanna suggests the cataract procedure. Cataract surgery was invented over 2,000 years ago, and has since been refined. About 40 years ago modern cataract surgery was invented, and since then the 21st century refractive cataract surgery has also been developed. Dr. Khanna cites the cataract procedure as the best possible solution for patients that currently have cataracts.
For patients that have not yet experienced cataracts, but are dissatisfied with their vision, Dr. Khanna has yet another solution, prelex. The prelex procedure involves removing the natural lens and replacing it with an artificial or presbyopic lens. This procedure can be effective for people that have previously had lasik surgery or for patients that do not want to wear glasses or contacts. The prelex procedure is effective for patients ages 45 and above, and allows patients to see; near, far, and everything in between. This procedure is not monovision and will allow patients to see without glasses or contacts. In addition, prelex prevents the future development of cataracts, as they are unable to develop in an artificial lens.
Dr. Khanna believes so strongly in the prelex procedure, its power to treat vision aliments, and provide patients with lasting, quality vision. He has performed this procedure on thousands of satisfied patients and was eager to share this information, and educate the thousand oaks community members. Dr. Khanna has recently completed a book, named after this effective procedure, the book is available for purchase on Amazon.com and has been receiving rave reviews.
