Online PR News – 31-October-2012 –Who would have considered a metal buildings as a home? Several MetalCon customers have. Asthetically pleasing to the eye and the pocketbook, Georgia homeowners are proud of their affordable, durable, and energy-efficient metal homes.
One Georgia homeowner built a 3200 square foot all-electric home overlooking her private pond and her highest electric bill was just $160. “We love our home and can’t believe how low the power bills are!”
MetalCon erected their metal home within two weeks of placing their order. Then the homeowner went to work with the help of subcontractors to finish the inside of the home, including plumbing, framing, electrical, appliances, and finish carpentry. The total cost of their home came in under $55,000 and was completed in less than 5 months.
The 2-story home was based on a 40X40 metal building with a 20X40 porch extension. “We started out downsizing, but it did not end up that way.” The homeowner decided to lay out three large bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms. The master bedroom features a 36’X14’ room. “This home is more open than our last home.”
“The porch is our favorite part of the home. It’s where we spend much of our time overlooking the pond. But the utility bill is really our favorite. The home stays comfortable year-round.” The homeowner installed two HVAC systems, one for upstairs, and one for downstairs. The building is very well insulated and the homeowner added insulation in many of the interior walls as well.
How did they decide to build a metal home? The homeowner had seen a metal building as a home before and fell in love with the idea. “The building we saw had storage below and living space above, and we thought ‘Wow, we never dreamed it was a metal building!’” We went to the MetalCon web site and started designing our home with their metal home estimating tool.
“We are 100% satisfied and would do it all over again.”
