Online PR News – 15-November-2012 –Admission is free and this event is open to the public. There will be Native American contest dancing, singing & vendors selling various types of art and jewelry.
Over the past 5 years, the Honoring Sobriety Pow Wow has grown and become a recognized Native American tradition in the Bay Area. A modern powwow is a specific type of event where both Native American and non-Native American people meet to dance, sing, socialize, and honor American Indian culture.
The gathering has been successful in recognizing individuals that fight to maintain a path of hope and sobriety, not only for themselves, but for their families and community. This powwow unites over 500 community members and leaders, educators, and others to address the efficacy of traditional Native American values and practices in an urban setting. In addition to the powwow, the information booths provide helpful resources for supporting communities and networking with other agencies to promote diversity, cultural competency and overall community wellness.
Come and join the fun. It's going to be a great day!
