Dallas Texas oral surgeon, John Wallace, D.D.S., M.D., is travelling to Bangladesh on a mission trip to help children in need.
Online PR News – 15-November-2012 –Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas – John Wallace, D.D.S., M.D., a DFW oral surgeon and co-owner of the practice Dallas Oral Surgery Associates, is pleased to announce that he will be leaving on a mission trip to Bangladesh from November 26 – December 7, 2012 to help children in need as part of a medical and dental team organized by the non-profit organization Smile Bangladesh.
There are approximately 300,000 children and adults in Bangladesh living with cleft lips and cleft palates, and the vast majority of the country’s affected families lack the resources to have the deformity repaired. There are less than thirty surgeons trained to perform cleft surgery in the country, and many of the people that are most in need of surgery are from rural areas and cannot access or afford the medical care required.
It is amazing how a one hour surgery can change the lives of these individuals, allowing them to smile and lead more normal lives. The Smile Bangladesh organization is dedicated to supporting volunteer surgeons and medical teams that provide free facial cleft surgery for Bengalis with cleft lips and cleft palates. Dallas oral surgeon Dr. Wallace is one of the dedicated oral surgeons willing to volunteer his time and expertise to provide this life-altering surgery to those in need.
“I am looking forward to my trip to Bangladesh, knowing that once I return to the U.S., I will have changed the lives of a multitude of people halfway around the world,” explains Dr. Wallace. “Smile Bangladesh is a great organization that connects those in need with those trained and willing to help. As an oral surgeon, one of my passions has been helping children suffering from cleft palate and lip deformities. Through my mission trip, I will be able to put my oral surgery training to good use and provide children that have facial cleft deformities with a reason to smile.”
Dr. Wallace specializes in many aspects of oral surgery in addition to facial cleft deformities, including implant dentistry, All on 4 dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, corrective jaw surgery, implant-supported dentures, and other oral surgery procedures. Last year, Dr. Wallace was voted by his peers as one of the best oral surgeons in Dallas as part of D Magazine’s listing of the Best Dentists of Dallas. Dr. Wallace’s practice, Dallas Oral Surgery Associates, has two convenient locations in Dallas and Plano, Texas, where he is dedicated to providing exceptional medical and dental care in a patient centered environment.
“The focus at Dallas Oral Surgery Associates is on helping our patients achieve their oral health goals and total well-being, with an eye for detail, a commitment to patient comfort, and a dedication to excellence,” says Dr. Wallace. “Through this trip, I am pleased to be able to bring that same dedication and focus to help those who are truly in need.”
