West Point Lincoln To Sponsor 36th Annual Bayou City Classic
The 36th running of the Bayou City Classic, coming in less than two months, will be sponsored by West Point Lincoln in Houston, Texas.
Online PR News – 15-January-2013 – Houston – Over the last 36 years, the Bayou City Classic 10k has slowly become one of Houston’s greatest yearly traditions. According to the Bayou City Classic website, “the Bayou City Classic 10k has been a Houston tradition for more than 30 years and attracts more than 3,000 runners, walkers, and volunteers.” This year, on top of the 10k, the Bayou City Classic will once again do the 5k Fun Run and Walk, which was added last year to get some more kids involved. In addition, to get more kids involved this year, the Bayou City Classic will be offering discounted registration fees for all participants born in the 21st century.
Essentially the whole purpose of this event is to raise money for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department so that they have the ability to properly maintain and develop running/walking trails in Houston’s beautiful city parks. According to the Bayou City Classic website, “The trails are available to anyone who lives in or visits Houston looking for a place to exercise or find a green haven away from the hustle and bustle of Houston's big city life. We were able to raise $45,000 for the Houston Parks & Recreation Department in 2012.”
West Point Lincoln of Houston, Texas is proud to play a small role in this event, and is looking forward to the actual day of the event, March 9th. Anyone interested in registering or learning more about the event should visit the Bayou City Classic website at www.bayoucityclassic.org.
