Online PR News – 05-March-2013 –Each year, on the first Wednesday of March, the Michelle's Angels Foundation, Inc. pauses to remind everyone to hug their loved ones. It does so in memory of the Foundation's namesake, Michelle Renee Knoll who passed away five years ago on March 7, 2008. It was Knoll’s spirit of support for others that served as the cornerstone on which the Foundation was created and which bears her name. On this day nonprofit Michelle's Angels Foundation, Inc. (MAF) remembers the reason they continue to reach out to those suffering any one of life’s challenges.
At the 2008 memorial service for his wife, Michelle Renee Knoll, Herb Knoll lovingly remembered his wife – whom he always referred to as “my bride.” In his eulogy, Knoll encouraged the husbands in the church not to take for granted the presence of their wives by doing the one thing he could no longer do. “Gentlemen…hug your brides,” Knoll said.
The health struggles of Michelle Renee Knoll became well documented in her adopted community of Nashville. Her suffering with pancreatic cancer inspired friends and supporters to create a virtual prayer community for Michelle, as well as others battling debilitating health or life crises. The community believed those suffering need to know someone cares. The local community became Michelle’s Angels Foundation and has since gone worldwide via its website.
Michelle’s Angels Foundation’s mission is to use networking via the organization’s website to provide love, hope, compassion and comforting music to those who quietly suffer or are facing any one of life’s many challenges. The Angels Artists (a team of volunteer performers and singer-songwriters) provide beauty and compassion by donating their comforting music free of charge on the MAF website’s music café and during live performances at the bedside of those who suffer in hospitals, surgical wards, cancer treatment centers, Hospices and more. In addition, emotional support is given through volunteer Angel Outreach (emails, letters, texts or phone calls), and the website’s prayer and remembrance lists.
“This special day is intended to remind all husbands who are still able to – to hug their brides. And never take their bride, or the love they gift to them, for granted,” said Herb Knoll, president of Michelle’s Angels Foundation. “Whether it’s a hug on the way out the door, a verbal hug over the phone during the day, a short note hug left on the counter for her to discover later or a gentle tender hug in the evening, brides everywhere deserve appreciation hugs,” added Knoll.
