Meagan B. Barnes is the new Mrs. DC America. She was crowned on Saturday night, March 16, 2013 in front of a crowd of over 250 attendees at the Jack Morton Theatre in Washington, DC. Mrs. Barnes will move on to represent DC at the Mrs. America pageant in August.

Online PR News – 20-March-2013 –Meagan B. Barnes is a 31-year old IT Consultant in the DC metro area. She is married to Isaac Barnes, Co-Founder of Eminent IT, and they have one son, Michael. She will compete at Mrs. America touting the platform of “Women’s Mental Health.”

Meagan is actively involved in the community and works tirelessly to bring mental health challenges to the forefront of discussions. She is the Founder of an online resource for women suffering from anxiety and panic disorders. She also is a blogger for EmpowHER.com, an award-winning social health company for women. Meagan is also known for hosting a bi-weekly support group where women who have anxiety and panic disorders, can connect with other women and share their stories and journeys. She has been nicknamed “The Angelic Warrior,” by her peers for her bravery in speaking up on issues regarding the mental health state of women.

Meagan balances her professional and community life by spending her personal life with her husband and son. When she gets a few moments to herself, she enjoys running, reading, and playing basketball. An interesting factor about Meagan is that she led her high-school basketball team to several championships.

Meagan competed against seven other leaders in the community to win the title of Mrs. DC America. During the competition, Meagan won two more awards: Mrs. Fitness DC, and Most Photogenic. Below are all the final results of the competition:
