Ron Warrington comments below will help explain how the Record Label came to be.
"If you are reading this I am assuming that music is your passion.
About six years ago Ron Warrington met an older gentleman that had such passion, in fact it was his life. This man, a BLUES MAN at heart, was 73 when I met him. He drove a raggedy old van with his name and phone number painted on the sides.
I met him in a small bar in Youngstown, Ohio one fall night after having attended a family members wedding. He was a one man band Sound system, two keyboards and a Yamaha with built in midi sounds. His name was Elray Johnson, he passed away last month after an extended illness. You can see his page on this site. He will always be a member and a friend, in fact this site is for him, and as my 8 year old granddaughter said, 'We still have his music'.
In the course of his life he had worked the Midwest, upstate New York, and Western Ohio. He ended up where his roots were Farrell Pa. He had three CDs produced with original tunes he had penned and sang. I though that his music and songs were as good as any I had heard. We became close friends and I offered to help him in any way I could. I saw that he still had dreams. He loved Ray Charles and wanted to do a Ray Charles Tribute show. We rounded up some of his old band members and some younger new talent that was willing to participate. We premiered the show in a club downtown Youngstown at 10 Pm on a cold winter night. We had no budget and played for nothing, but we did it! It was reward enough to see the Old Man (as I affectingly referred to him as) Smile and be so enthused.
I saw the results of a person with determination and passion, but no resources and thought only if he was twenty years younger? Would his life have been better?
in 2009 I started Indie Mad MP3.com a global internet radio network as A resource for aspiring musicians as well as providing them with a spring board for Global exposure and a starting point for their carreer.
In 2012 I met Bryon Andres (though Indie Mad) who introduced me to the idea of artist management and music distribution. . He is a seasoned veteran with much more experience in areas that I had only been exposed to."
Together,in the fall of that year, SMT Records was born.
