"With No-Knife Endovenous Laser™ we are able to successfully treat varicose veins without any long-term evidence of a procedure being done in most cases," says Dr. David Greuner.
Online PR News – 17-September-2013 –New York, N.Y. - Dr. David Greuner says that most minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins leave small scars on the legs. “Men and women with olive and darker skin tones run the risk of the scars darkening and becoming more noticeable,” he says. To address this issue Dr. Greuner, a cardiovascular surgeon and vein specialist has developed No-Knife Endovenous Laser™ a minimally invasive technique that eliminates the scars often left by varicose vein treatment.
"The ‘No-Knife’ technique is especially beneficial for men and women with darker skin tones who may be prone to hyperpigmentation, or dark discoloring at incision sites," says Dr. Greuner, surgical director at Vein Centers of NYC Surgical Associates. "These small scars are not so noticeable in people with fairer skin, however anyone with olive or darker skin complexions like myself may consider small dark scars to be a significant issue."
“Dr. Greuner, a cardiovascular surgeon and vein specialist has developed No-Knife Endovenous Laser™ a minimally invasive technique that eliminates the scars often left by varicose vein treatment. ”
"Instead of using a scalpel we use a small needle to enter the vein using ultrasound guidance," says Dr. Greuner. "A laser catheter is inserted into the vein to be treated and the energy heats the vein to a predetermined temperature, causing the vein to close down. Blood then flows through the nearest healthy vein," says Dr. Greuner.
"Usually a surgeon will make a small incision and a sheath is used to introduce a laser, radio frequency or laser catheter into the blood vessel. This conventional method leaves a 4 to 10 mm scar at the entry point, depending on the procedure."
Although many patients seek treatment for varicose veins for aesthetic reasons Dr. Greuner says that venous insufficiency can cause leg cramping, swelling and fatigue as well as itching and burning sensations. “Over time, additional veins will become diseased, causing the patient to feel worse. That’s why it’s so important to seek a specialist in treating venous disease.”
