Iberia Foods began its business by selling olives in the 1930s. As supply demands increased, it was acquired by supply giant CPC International, in 1990 who attained a 40% share of Iberia Foods. Once CPC transitioned into Best Foods in 1994, Iberia was fully acquired and grew quickly as a staple in grocery stores internationally. In 2002, Best Foods was acquired by Unilever, and in 2003, Iberia Foods was acquired by the Brooklyn Bottling Group – a manufacturer and distributor of international food and beverage brands. With a wide range of products—from olives and olive oils to rice and canned goods—Iberia brings the Hispanic household a taste of home and the American consumer true authenticity with its versatile selection of products.
Recognizing the potential of the market for international food, the Brooklyn Bottling Group's CEO, Eric Miller, began investing in certain growing demographics and highlighted the Iberia Foods brand as an authentic source of Latino foods in the United States. "We acquired Iberia Foods because it has a fantastic line of products, it has a reputation for superior quality, and strong consumer recognition," shared Miller.
Iberia Foods is available in more than 10,000 supermarkets, club stores, wholesalers and distributors on the East Coast. It has distribution centers in New York, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta and Springfield, Massachusetts. It will be opening a distribution center in Chicago next month.
