The inaugural Black Women In Jazz Awards is taking place at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta, GA on Friday, May 2, 2014. More than 1,000 attendees and partners are expected to attend. WMPR 90.1 FM and Brown J. Realty, LLC are the presenting sponsors.
The honors and awards gala featuring Black women in jazz and fine arts kicks off Saturday morning, March 1 with a comprehensive Health and Wellness Expo before the show. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta. The Black Women In Jazz Association welcomes several prominent health field professionals who will offer counsel, screenings and activities.

The Black Women In Jazz Association, was founded in 2013. It was created to assist in meeting the needs of women in jazz professionals such as vocalists, instrumentalists, composers, and producers. The non profit trade association's mission is to advance the interests and promote the talents of artists. Through networking events, education, training, seminars, workshops, award galas, features, interviews, concerts and of the like, BWIJ strives to ensure that women are honored as a vital part of the past, present, and future of jazz.
