Online PR News – 02-March-2014 – London, UK. – London – based Somali singer, songwriter Aar Maanta has released a new EP titled ‘Somali Songs From The Diaspora.’ Having recently wrapped up his first UK tour, being the first Somali musical act to do so. The 6 track EP will feature live recordings from Aar’s historic tour, new songs and remixes from his 2009 debut album Hiddo & Dhaqan.
After receiving great recognition following the release of Hiddo & Dhaqan. StarAfrica.com acknowledged the artist as “A Somali Culture Shaper in London.” Aar Manta’s songs give a deep expression relating to the Somali diaspora. The protest song “Deeqa” named after Somali Airlines, highlighted the injustice Somali people receive at airports as a consequence of the “War on Terror”. With critically acclaimed Jazz musician Maciek Pysz on guitar, an acoustic version of this song is also featured in the EP.
Commenting on the release of his new EP, Aar Maanta said, "Since the release of Hiddo & Dhaqan it has been an intriguing, and exceptional journey. My most memorable being my UK and Horn of Africa tours. Which gave me the chance to connect to my audiences and their preferences on the album. With this realisation, I have new sounds for them in store. This EP is a taster of what is to come in the very near future.”
Somali Songs From The Diaspora is on general release from Monday, 3rd March 2013. Available on Apple iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and all other online music stores.
Aar Maanta is an Independent Somali artist.
