Chicago Photographer Offers Photography Workshops In Shawnee National Forest

Chicago product photographer, Keith French, is offering a photography workshop in Shawnee National Forest October 17-19. Register at http://kfrenchphoto.com.

Online PR News – 18-June-2014 – Chicago, IL – Keith French is a celebrated Chicagoland product photographer who is heading out of the city again and into the woods. French is offering a hands-on photography workshop in Shawnee National Forest this October. Taking his regular break from commercial photography, French is offering this photography workshop spanning 3 days, running from October 17-19, 2014. Cost is $689 which includes some meals and Hostel cabin lodging. There is a substantial discount for early bookings and space is limited. Participants must arrange for their own transportation to and from Shawnee National Forest and to individual photogenic locations.

"In the fall, the colors are absolutely amazing. It’s hard to believe you’re still in Illinois because of the terrain and the rock formations. This is a rain or shine event, full of photographic opportunities. However, there are some things that just seem to stand out beautifully no matter what the weather. Places like abandoned grain mills or barns don’t care what the sky is doing," said Keith French of Keith French Photography (http://kfrenchphoto.com).

The workshop will take participants deep into Shawnee National Forest, and to some sites that are on private property, at one of the prettiest times of year. Several of the photography workshop locations are not on maps or nature guides, ensuring uninterrupted photographic opportunities. All locations have been hand-picked by French to allow him to teach specific techniques while taking advantage of the seasonal colors and weather.

"This workshop is great for anyone who doesn’t mind a little physical activity and maybe even getting a little dirty while learning to take better outdoor photos. All skill levels are welcome. The only thing we ask is that participants be familiar with their own equipment," said French.

Participants should be prepared for the weather and come ready to hike to some of the locations. Participants should bring:

• A digital SLR with a wide-angle lens for scenery
• A telephoto lens for capturing wildlife or isolating landscapes
• An optional macro lens or extension tubes with for the telephoto
• Plenty of flash card storage
• A laptop with external hard drive for downloading and storing images is recommended but not required
• A USB flash drive to transport images for critiques
• Additional accessories of the participants' choice such as tripods, filters, extra batteries, external flash, etc.

French has held photography classes at Shawnee in the past giving him a solid understanding of the area and knowledge of the best spots to learn certain techniques. His photography workshops are always popular as he uses a hands-on teaching method and pays specific attention to each participant to help them become a better photographer.
