Anthem Periodontics and Dental Implants is excited to be the first board certified periodontist to bring this innovative gum restoration procedure to Las Vegas.
Online PR News – 05-August-2014 – Las Vegas NV – Dr. Ed DeAndrade and his team at Anthem Periodontics & Dental Implants are now able to offer this amazing new treatment for receding gums. The Chao Gum Rejuvenation™ treatment was developed and patented by Dr. John Chao, a renowned Los Angeles dentist. Using this procedure, a dentist can treat each tooth in a matter of minutes, and thanks to the process being minimally invasive, several teeth can be repaired in a single visit.
Receding gums are often the result of aging, numerous health issues, and aggressive brushing techniques. Patients that go with untreated recession, typically lose the teeth affected. For many years the standard method of treating receding gums has been the use of gum grafting. In this process a section of healthy tissue is harvested from another part of the patient's mouth, typically the roof. This section is then sewn into place, where it covers the area affected by recession.
According to Dr. DeAndrade of Anthem Periodontics and Dental Implants in Las Vegas, NV, who has been in practice for over 16 years, "receding gums have long been a problem, and the various treatments that have been available up until now have provided varying amounts of success." Dr. DeAndrade goes on to say, "It has only been in the past ten years or so that we have made headway into using better regenerative methods which have finally begun to provide patients and dentists with far more reliable results. Now that we have access to the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™ technique we expect to see far better results."
"This incredibly successful new minimally invasive Pinhole Surgical Technique™ ensures the patient will experience far less discomfort during the procedure, and that they can expect a far shorter recovery time. One of the biggest problems we see with patients who have receding gums is that they tend to put off the surgery simply because they don't want to deal with the pain of surgery and the extended recovery times," states Dr. DeAndrade.
Due to the uncomfortable procedure of gum grafting, a way was found to be able relocate the patient's gums using nothing more than a tiny pinhole instead of the usual cutting followed by stitches. Thanks to the groundbreaking research and development completed by Dr. Chao, this procedure has been developed over many years, and is now a reality. Dr. DeAndrade is happy to be the first board certified periodontist offering this procedure.
To perform Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™, Dr. Ed DeAndrade first numbs the area of the gums to be worked on with a local anesthetic. One or more tiny holes are then made in the gums closely aligned with the tooth or teeth where the gums need to be moved. He then uses custom designed dental tools to loosen the gum tissues from the tooth and then guides it into place where it will provide the proper protection.
Once the tissue is in place, Dr. DeAndrade uses thin collagen strips that are inserted through the pinholes and then run underneath the gums. This will help hold the gums in their proper position allowing them to heal in place. For the average patient, the entire procedure can be completed in approximately 20 minutes, based on the severity of the recession and the number of teeth being treated. The entry pinholes typically heal within one day, and any swelling disperses within just a few days, leaving behind healthy, perfectly positioned gums.
