ABSTRAKTO LP to Release Through Purplehaus Music
Online PR News – 18-August-2014 – Los Angeles, CA – "Marcando Paso," the debut single from musician, composer, singer, songwriter and co-founder of the multi-Grammy Award-winning multi-cultural, multi-genre band Ozomatli, Asdru Sierra produced by musician, director, producer Balthazar Getty’s Abstrakto LP, is set to debut on iTunes and retail outlets globally on August 19th. The video for "Marcando Paso" was directed by Getty and is an enigmatic piece depicting a turbulent love triangle starring both Getty and Sierra debuting on ESTRELLA TV August 20th.
With more than 40 films to his credit and a litany of starring television roles, Getty had this to say about his music and the "Marcando Paso" sound, "My whole life, I've listened to Latin music. Brazilian, Cuban, Mexican, Spanish — that exotic feeling and the horns, those big brass sections. There’s just something about the energy and that feel."
Spending the last 19 years as Ozomatli’s lead vocalist, trumpet and keyboardist Sierra, more specifically describes the unique ABSTRAKTO collaboration as hybrid of hybrids and his true passion project. "It’s a real human feeling – "Marcando Paso", marching, trudging steps in life… as sad as it may sound, actually, it’s the opposite – when you are trudging and takings steps in life you are actually making it through," Sierra adds.
Described as a cinematic, alternative, Latin sound, the collaborative work, ABSTRAKTO, will be released through Getty’s Purplehaus Music. Although the album is not yet released, it is piquing major interest. An ABSTRAKTO song will be featured in Robert Rodriguez's TV series "Matador" currently airing original episodes, Tuesday evenings, on the English-language cable net El Rey.
The eight-time Grammy-Award winning mixer Manny Marroquin, adds "ABSTRAKTO takes you on a classic approach that is food for your soul."
“About his music and the "Marcando Paso" sound Getty states, “I've listened to Latin music my whole life - Brazilian, Cuban, Mexican, Spanish — that exotic feeling and the horns, those big brass sections. There’s just something about the energy and that feel.”
