The opening reception of the show, at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in downtown Fort Myers, is Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.rnrnThe book was written and edited by Sanibel journalist and librarian Elizabeth “Libby” Grimm, who is editor-in-chief of TOTI Media. Dream Peace will be available for sale during the reception. Roberts, an artist who focuses on social commentary issues, has more than 60 paintings and found-object installations in the exhibit. The book, which gives in-depth explanations of the works, can also be purchased at myraroberts.com.rnrn“Red Tide Turtle,” an acrylic on canvas that is 36 inches by 36 inches, will be featured at the show. However, because it is “fresh off the easel,” it was not able to be included in the book.rnrnThe Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center hosted a retrospective exhibition of Roberts’ works in January 2015. WGCU Public Media chose her as one of five “2016 Makers: Women Who Make Southwest Florida.” Nominated by the public, the selection of Roberts was based on her impact in the arts and social justice in Southwest Florida.
