Online PR News – 27-April-2011 – – A Staffordshire businessman is bidding to help a growing number of recession-busting traders who’ve turned internet auction entrepreneurs.

Todd Cornehls, manager of Your Self Store, in Cannock spotted a gap in the market and now offers storage for eBay sellers.

Todd says he has seen a noticeable rise in the last year in the number of people turning to the online phenomenon.

And he says that with costs being crucial in a business with such tight profit margins, storage facilities can help professional eBayers survive the downturn.

“Commercial trading on eBay is certainly becoming a real business phenomenon since the recession began to bite. When we opened 18 months ago very few eBay businesses stored goods with us but now eBayers form a regular and significant number of our clients,” said Mr Cornehls.

“We’ve seen people take up eBay commercially after they’ve lost a job, so the auction site provides them with employment.

“More people seem to be turning to it in these hard times, seeing it as a second job to boost their income.”

It’s estimated that up to 70,000 people in the UK earn a primary or secondary income from trading on eBay.

“Storage for them can be a real problem and that’s where we’re able to help,” said Mr Cornehls.

“We’re able to offer a real range of storage space from garage sized or bigger to large cupboard size, with the flexibility to move between that range in a short period of time.

“That’s great for eBay businesses that often need to order in bulk to offer discounts, and need large storage space but only for a short time as they sell those goods quickly.

“Another particularly important service for eBay business is our complete service to receive goods, store and dispatch them, so we can package, and address and send out the items to customers very quickly.

“That helps eBay businesses to hit their promised delivery dates, which improves the feedback from customers that is so crucial on eBay to develop customer loyalty.

“I think eBay is going to become an even more popular form of business going forward and we hope to be helping more entrepreneurs to beat the recession with storage solutions,” he said.

Matt Bannister, from Brownhills, a full-time eBay trader who stores goods at the unit, said: “Using Your Self Store has made work so much easier for me and allows me to focus on my business. I can store any of my goods here and they sort out the handling of them.

“I was getting big pallets delivered, which I can’t get delivered to my home, and items could be delivered at any time of day so I had to be in all day, but Your Self Store can handle all of that for me. And as my business grows I can simply use a larger storage room so I don’t need to move premises. It’s just a great match for an eBay business.”
