Police Architects' Design Helps New Sarasota Police Headquarters Receive LEED Certification

The City of Sarasota’s new police headquarters, designed by the experts in public safety architecture, Architects Design Group, achieved LEED® certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Online PR News – 27-April-2011 – – Sarasota, Florida – The City of Sarasota’s six-story, 201,453 GSF police headquarters achieved LEED® certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building was designed by Architects Design Group, experts in police architecture.

The new $38 million headquarters building, located in downtown Sarasota, is the first police facility in the state of Florida to be LEED® certified and the 33rd LEED® certified police facility in the United States. The police architects at Architects Design Group used sustainable features in the facility which included, but were not limited to, automated building lighting control system, Low-E energy efficient windows, Water Star compliant plumbing fixtures, recycled materials, and water efficient landscaping. Additionally, specific attention was given to the interior work environment, including the use of natural lighting and surrounding exterior occupant views.

The professional public safety architects at Architects Design Group has designed more than 2 million square feet of police facilities throughout the nation, and currently has several projects submitted for LEED® certification including the Orange County Sheriff Sector II Building, Deltona Fire Station #65, and the Greene County/Springfield Public Safety Complex, and the Charleston County EOC and 911 Call Center.
