Carmen’s Top of the Bridge Launches “Wines of Passion: The Best of South America” Tastings & Tapas

Wine lovers and connoisseurs, as well as Bridge Hotel guests are invited to indulge and delight in the new “Wines of Passion: Best of South America” Tastings & Tapas Thursdays Series and Wine Dinners presented by Carmen’s At The Top of the Bridge on selected evenings throughout the summer from May to August.

Online PR News – 04-May-2011 – – Wine lovers and connoisseurs, as well as Bridge Hotel guests are invited to indulge and delight in the new “Wines of Passion: Best of South America” Tastings & Tapas Thursdays Series and Wine Dinners presented by Carmen’s At The Top of the Bridge on selected evenings throughout the summer from May to August. Set amidst the sweeping penthouse-level panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway from Carmen’s, the special wine and tapas experience is hosted by Frank Reider, a respected wine connoisseur and author of the book “Wines of Passion: The Best of South America”. The twice-a-month Tastings & Tapas series and once-a-month summer wine dinners feature selections from premier collections of highly-rated South American wines coupled with signature culinary fare served up by Carmen’s Executive Chef Dudley Rich.

At each tasting event, starting May 12th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., guests will sample two white wines selected from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Torrontes and two red wines selected from Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Carmenere, with the selection varying throughout the series. For those that would like to stay for dinner, a special 20% discount will be applied to the entire bill. Subsequent “Wines of Passion” Tastings & Tapas Thursdays are scheduled for May 26th, June 9th, June 26th, July 7th, July 21st, and two dates yet to be determined in August.

WINE DINNERS PAIR HIGH RATED SOUTH AMERICAN WINES AND SIGNATURE CULINARY SELECTIONS BY CARMEN’S CHEF DUDLEY RICH
Guests who want to savor Carmen’s signature dinners coupled selections of South American wines as they dance the night away to live music, will want to make reservations for the “Wines of Passion” Dinners on May 19th, June 16th, July 14th and a Thursday date yet to be determined in August.

The first “pairings” event on Thursday, May 19th will showcase Casa Silva wines from Chile that have been rated 90 or better by Robert Parker, leading U.S. wine critic with an international reach coupled with Chef Dudley Rich’s renowned cuisine. Menu starts with a salad: Belgian Endive, Cranberry, White Stilton Cheese, Toasted Walnut, Raspberry Vinaigrette paired with Casa Silva Chardonnay Reserva, 2009; appetizer: Citrus Glazed Sea Bass with shaved Fennel paired with Casa Silva Sauvignon Blanc, 2009 ; intermezzo of Lemon Champagne Sorbet; entrée: Sliced New York Strip Steak, Fingerling Potatoes, Asparagus, Wine Sauce paired with Casa Silva, Carmenere, 2009, and dessert: The Ultimate Berry Trifle and Chocolate Mousse paired with Casa Silva, Micro Terroir, 2005. The Wines of Passion” Dinner on June 16th will feature “pairings” of Argentinan wines from Septima, a subsidiary of the Codorniu group, which is Spain’s largest wine company. Septima’s Gran Reserva was rated 90 by Parker, its Malbec 89.

Restaurateur and author Frank Reider first experimented with wines at his friends’ wine dinners in Rio de Janeiro. This led to a passion for Bordeaux classics.
