Eric Schaer Opens New Car Detailing Shop, Details Matter

Eric Schaer, a local resident with a passion for cars, recently opened his own car detailing shop. The shop, called Details Matter, is the first business venture for Eric Schaer.

The shop, named 'Details Matter,' celebrated its grand opening in the spring of 2011. Guests enjoyed a free lunch of bratwursts, hot dogs, chips, sodas and ice cream and some lucky customers won prizes for discounts and even a free detailing package.

Miles Gardner was the grand prize winner from Eric Schaer and Details Matter. Miles Gardner won a full car detailing package, valued at $500. The detailing includes steam cleaning all carpets and seats, cleaning the engine bay, a full exterior wash and wax, and cleaning the undercarriage and the chassis. Before he left, Miles Gardner made arrangements with owner Eric Schaer to bring his car in to claim his prize.

Miles has been a long term customer of mine so I was thrilled that he won my grand prize. I know his 2002 Jetta TDI is going to look like a new vehicle when I get done with it. In addition to the grand prize that Miles won, we also handed out over 50 coupons for 10% off any detailing service to the first 50 customers and everyone got a free microfiber towel to clean off their dash board and other interior spots in their cars. So far, business is going well and we thank our customers for their support.

Before opening Details Matter, Eric Schaer worked in a local car dealership. He began by washing and vacuuming cars for customers when they were in for repairs and took great pride in the look on his customers face when they saw how their car looked new again. Although he was quickly promoted and was asked to perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes and other minor repairs, he never lost his zeal for detailing.

Details Matter has quickly grown to be one of the area's best known detail shops. Within just a few months, Eric Schaer had to hire a full time bookkeeper and office manager, as well as four part time detailers. Even though he's only been in business a short time, he plans to open a second location in a few years if business continues to grow.

"Opening Details Matter was a little bit of a leap of faith. It can be scary to go from a steady paycheck to opening your own small business, but the rewards have been tremendous. I'm excited to go to work every day and can't imagine doing anything else," said Eric Schaer.
