Traffix Joins GSMA as Associate Member to Offer Diameter Signaling Expertise to Mobile Ecosystem

Traffix will Participate in Several Working Groups that Reflect Typical Diameter Use Cases to Assist Operators.

Online PR News – 13-December-2011 – – Freehold, NJ, – November 15, 2011: Traffix Systems, the 4G & Diameter control plane experts, has announced that it is now an associate member of GSMA, a group that represents the interests of more than 800 mobile operators in over 220 countries across the globe. In addition, GSMA represents over 200 firms operating in the mobile filed, such as manufacturers of handsets, software companies, equipment suppliers, and Internet, media, and entertainment firms.

GSMA Chief Marketing Officer Michael O’Hara said that the organization welcomed Traffix, citing its “seasoned specialization in Diameter signaling solutions.” O’Hara said that Traffix’s in-depth understanding of the control plane would be an asset to many of the GSMA’s technical groups and help GMSA members transition more easily to 4G technologies.

Traffix CEO Ben Volkow said the company looked forward to taking part in the activity of the GSMA and broadening the industry’s focus on signaling as a growing component of 4G technologies. Volkow said that Traffix had already started actively participating in many technical groups, sharing its experience in Diameter protocol.

The following are a few examples of instances in which Traffix will be contributing its Diameter expertise to GSMA working groups:

* The Inter-Working, Roaming Expert Group (IREG). This group specifies technical, operational and performance issues supporting international roaming.

* The Packet Working Group (PACKET). This group specifies technical, operational and performance issues supporting international roaming in 2.5G, 3G and LTE. The focus of this group is on the study from a compatibility and interoperability perspective of the transition from 2.5 to 3G to LTE.

* Roaming & Interconnect over LTE (RILTE) group. This group’s goal is to understand how adding LTE and EPC will impact the existing roaming ecosystem.

* IWG, Interconnect Working Group. This group holds overall responsibility for interconnection and interworking related matters aimed at improving the quality of operator interconnection and interworking relationships worldwide between operators and third parties, as well as between operators themselves.

Traffix has been developing innovative Diameter solutions since 2005. The company offers service providers a field-proven Signaling Delivery Controller (SDC), a unified solution for intelligent dynamic Diameter routing, load balancing for unlimited scalability and overload control, and seamless gateway connectivity. Tier one carriers have already deployed Traffix’s SDC, which offers patented technology of context-aware signaling analytics and unmatched management tools for network visibility and Diameter testing.
