PODS Moving and Storage adds artistic flare to First Night St. Pete celebration

PODS® storage containers become mobile art galleries at 18th annual New Year’s Eve event

Online PR News – 29-December-2011 – – On the evening of Dec. 31, 10 PODS® containers donated by PODS will be transformed into mini art galleries allowing local Florida artists to display their works at South Straub Park.

Using PODS® containers to display art is a part of a growing nationwide trend where art enthusiasts are utilizing the sturdy white containers to house art exhibits and, in some cases, literally turning them in to large-scale artwork. Over the past six months, PODS® container art exhibits have popped up in Texas, Florida, Kentucky and California.

“The donated PODS® containers are the perfect platform for our artists to use when sharing their art with First Night St. Pete visitors,” said Lara Shelton, executive director of First Night St. Pete. “This year we anticipate 20,000 people attending the event and seeing artwork displayed in such a unique way.”

The mission of First Night St. Pete is to broaden and deepen the public’s appreciation for the visual, performing and literary arts through an innovative, diverse and high quality program on New Year’s Eve, which offers the community a shared cultural experience in the center of the city that is accessible and affordable.
