Leading racing website Grand-National.me.uk have announced a total redesign of their popular site, complete with new user-friendly tools and improved functionality.

The redesign, completed in January 2012, now integrates Twitter and Facebook, letting visitors interact over social networks for the first time, whilst the 'Disqus.com' commenting system allows visitors to post comments on each of the site’s articles and to chat with the team at Grand-National.me.uk and each other.

The new, easy-to-use, site has been designed with both the novice and professional race-fan in mind. For novices, there are simple to follow guides on form, understanding the odds and videos. For the professional, there are detailed form guides, data on previous races, the latest news on trainers and owners, plus an in-depth analysis of every single horse in the race.

Site performance has also been vastly improved. The homepage, now three times the size of the old homepage at one megabyte, loads in under 1.8 seconds – making it of the web’s top 20% fastest loading websites (source pingdom.com).

There’s a free 'bet calculator' that allows racing fans to easily see how much they might win on their Grand National bets, and a 'virtual Red Rum' that can be asked to pick a potential winner. These, alongside an interactive Grand National quiz game and a downloadable kit for the office sweepstake, means there’s plenty of fun to be had as well.

Technically the site has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, utilising a content delivery system (MaxCDN) that distributes content to multiple server locations all around the world.
