First Annual Greer Family Fishing Derby

What:
The First Annual Greer Family Fishing Derby will offer plenty of fun for the whole family with a free breakfast, a BBQ picnic lunch in the meadow benefiting the local Boys and Girls Club, prizes in a variety of categories, and an awards ceremony at this historic Molly Butler Lodge following the event.

Prizes will be awarded for first fish, biggest fish, etc. There will also be 5 tagged fish in the ponds which will snag special prizes if caught! Fish cleaning stations with “expert cleaners” located near the ponds will enable families to leave with their filets ready to cook! Teams will receive a recipe and instructions on “How To Cook Your Trout”.

Where:
The Lazy Trout, Main Street, Greer, Arizona. The Lazy Trout offers 3 private ponds; no fishing license required!

Cost:
No entry fee and no fishing license required! Teams will simply pay by the inch for the number of fish they keep. Breakfast is FREE and lunch proceeds will benefit the local Boys and Girls Club.

Schedule & Activities:
Saturday, May 5
9 a.m. – Registration and free breakfast offered by The Lazy Trout
10 a.m. to Noon – Kids & Family Fishing Derby (12 yrs and under with an adult)
Noon to 1 p.m. – BBQ Picnic Lunch in the Meadows next to the Trout Ponds.
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Big Boys & Girls Fishing Derby (13 yrs and up)
5 p.m. – Fishing Derby Awards Ceremony at Molly Butler Lodge on Main Street in Greer! Folks are encouraged to stay afterwards for dinner and enjoy a special menu featuring delicious fish entrees by Molly’s Chef Ruben.

Cabins & Lodging:

There are three quaint lodge rooms available for $75 to 95 per night, but guests can also enjoy the privacy and charm of authentic woodland lodging in any of Molly’s 50+ private cabins. From small rustic log cabins to million dollar luxury log home estates on acre+ lots, Molly’s cabins are located throughout Greer’s rolling hills and forests, ranging in size to sleep anywhere from two to 18 people. Prices range from $95 to $495 per night.
