ITEC Apprentice joins Infosec Technologies technical team

Basingstoke business supports local work-based training for young people

Online PR News – 28-May-2012 – Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK – Infosec Technologies, the Chineham-based IT security and networking reseller has recently recruited Kelsey Heynes following her initial training at Basingstoke ITEC. Kelsey has joined the company’s technical team to assist with internal IT support and customer technical queries.

Infosec Technologies has successfully invested in apprenticeship training over the last few years and as a result was keen to recruit another trainee. The company contacted ITEC in late March and after interviewing six candidates using empathy profile analysis and traditional interview techniques, two candidates were invited to spend a day in the office and given a variety of technical tasks to complete.

Pete Sherwood, Managing Director Infosec Technologies, commented: “Both candidates excelled; a great endorsement of ITEC’s selection process and training. However as we could only recruit one apprentice at this time, we selected Kelsey who is now flourishing on the Infosec Technologies Technical Development programme.”

Kelsey Heynes, 19, is enrolled on the City and Guilds IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professional training programme at Level 3 (equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels) and has already applied email security, cabling, wireless networking and html skills at Infosec Technologies. Over the next 12 months Kelsey will continue her professional development through hands-on work experience and ITEC supervised assignments. The apprentice’s assessor will visit for an hour or two every three weeks ensuring ITEC delivers training that is relevant and job specific.

ITEC ensures all their apprentices are work ready; they look at each individual and support them to achieve the outcome of an apprenticeship and full time employment. Example of positions apprentices move into: 1st Line Helpdesk Support, Administrator/IT Support, Provision Engineer and ICT Technician. ITEC also delivers Business and Administration and Customer Service apprenticeship training.

“We have a team of fully qualified, well trained and motivated staff. We are a local provider so can offer a personalised service, with success rates well above the national average,” commented Caroline McColl, Manager, ITEC.

With more than one in five young people out of work, Infosec Technologies is delighted to be able to offer work-based training and plans to offer Kelsey a permanent position at the end of her training period. “Giving young people a chance to kick-start their careers, not only helps the individuals involved but also helps increase our skills base and boost the local economy,” concluded Pete Sherwood.
