Key West Top Guides Readies for the 2010 Key West Fishing Tournament Kick-Off Event

The famous eight-month-long Key West Fishing Tournament kicks off on March 13th with a two-day event

Online PR News – 04-March-2010 – – March 13, 2010 marks the official start of Key West's largest fishing tournament, the aptly-named Key West fishing Tournament. For eight months, anglers of all ages and levels of experience keep track of their catches, submitting forms throughout the spring and summer in hopes of winning the highly-coveted prizes at the close of the tournament.

On March 13th and 14th, the Key West Fishing Tournament starts with the yearly Kick-Off Tournament, a smaller-scale tournament with prizes that starts off the year's Key West Fishing Tournament. Key West anglers and charter captains conduct fishing Key West trips targeting a select list of species in the deep off-shore and shallower flats waters of Key West and the Lower Keys.

After the kick-off weekend, the tournament starts in full swing. From March through November, both local and visiting anglers compete in a large variety of categories that cover things like angler age and specific species. Submissions are turned in to official sites on official submission forms.

Key West fishing is known as one of the best in the country. The waters off the coast of the southernmost island of Key West offer anglers a variety of fishing options including deep offshore fishing, light tackle fishing, and back country/flats fishing. Fishing Key West is excellent year-round with certain yearly resident species (such as snapper, bonito, and amberjack) and seasonal species (such as marlin and dolphin in the summer, or kingfish and mackerel in the winter).

Key West Top Guides will be participating in the tournament for its entirety. The Key West fishing charter captains of the Top Guides will conduct special tournament charters in addition to their regular daily Key West fishing charters.
