Raffles Hotel Celebrates 125 Years of Legendary Hospitality

There are few hotels in the world whose names have become virtually synonymous with the cities in which they are located – and none more so than Raffles in Singapore.

Online PR News – 29-August-2012 – Singapore – There are few hotels in the world whose names have become virtually synonymous with the cities in which they are located – and none more so than Raffles in Singapore.

Named after Sir Stamford Raffles, founder of Singapore, Raffles started as a 10-room bungalow 125 years ago. This Singapore hotel (http://www.raffles.com/singapore/) soon became the haunt of business tycoons, the great and the good, rogues and adventurers, politicians, movie stars, authors and journalists.

Visiting writers included Rudyard Kipling, Somerset Maugham and Noel Coward, a host of foreign correspondents – all of whom contribute to the stories and legends, fact and fiction, which have clung to the hotel ever since. Through their stories, the Long Bar, the Palm Court and the Billiard Room with its tiger, became familiar to people who had never even been to Singapore.

Come September 2012, Raffles Hotel will be celebrating its 125th anniversary with a host of activities. These include special themed events including “A Tiger’s Tale” Fancy Dress Dinner at the notable Bar & Billiard Room. Other activities planned at our luxury hotel Singapore (http://www.raffles.com/singapore/suites-and-rooms/presidential-suites/) include three luxurious suite packages, educational history tours and drawing competition for schools and charity events.

Details of the various activities organised to celebrate Raffles Hotel’s 125th Anniversary can be found in the Appendix.
