Popular Los Angeles-based 'Senior Moments' columnist Patricia Bunin draws rave reviews from fans and the media for her entertaining new book released by Star Creek Entertainment, "Password:SeniorMoment."
Online PR News – 05-September-2012 – Pasadena, California – KNBC Universal news reporter Patrick Healy predicts mega-success for author Patricia Bunin and her new book, “Password: SeniorMoment” ($14.95, Star Creek Entertainment).
“At the rate she’s going, Patricia is going to be hotter than Lady Gaga,” Healy said of Bunin, who has penned her wildly successful newspaper column “Senior Moments” for several Los Angeles-area newspapers for the past three years.
Bunin, who turned 50 shades of red when she first heard Healy’s comment, says even a fraction of Gaga’s success would suit her just fine. More than anything, she said she hopes her book makes the point that growing older is truly something to celebrate.
“Whether you’re closing in on 50, 60, 70 or beyond, my book will make you laugh and sometimes cry over life’s little moments that everyone can relate to,” said Bunin, who recently appeared in an author spotlight on the “KCAL9 Midday News” with Sandy Mitchell. “And hopefully it will get across the message that our senior years are the most enriching and rewarding of our entire lives.”
“Password: SeniorMoment,” which was released earlier this month by Star Creek Entertainment, illustrates that point through a collection of funny, poignant and inspiring tales, based on Bunin’s popular “Senior Moments” newspaper column. The stories deal with everything from taking care of aging parents to online dating to learning the ins and outs of the Internet.
Bunin says one of her favorite columns is about helping her mother pack for a move to an assisted living retirement home. Through the experience, she said she came to realize the value in her mom’s belongs far beyond their material worth.
Another story Bunin is particularly fond of is the one on which her book is based. The “Password: Senior Moment” vignette is a hilarious look at the challenges seniors can face trying to navigate the World Wide Web.
“I love being the bearer of good news that aging is a positive thing,” said Bunin, a columnist for the Los Angeles News Group. “And I think the longer you live, the more interesting you are. That’s why I’ll never run out of things to write about.”
Bunin’s "Senior Moments" column has been published in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Pasadena Star-News, San Bernardino Sun, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts since 2009. It has continued to grow in popularity, drawing rave reviews from readers and the media.
CBS2 News anchor Kent Shocknek wrote the foreword for “Password: SeniorMoment.”
“ONLY Patricia could get two topics, including spousal murder, into a light, breezy 350 words,” Shocknek said. “I love her work!”
Along with her columns, Bunin has contributed essays to “Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul” and written two books for Seal Press: “Tied in Knots” and “The Bigger the Better, The Tighter the Sweater.”
She also published a poetry magazine, “The Rufus,” under a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Most recently, Bunin was invited to be a guest writer for the SCAN Health Plan Newsletter.
