Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities partake in the challenges Fifty States Half Marathon Club offers. Some members are on the fast track and some members have no time commitment as to when they will finish one of the challenges, and simply enjoy the 150 plus event discounts and various other discounts offered to the members. The extensive discount list Fifty States Half Marathon Club has grown over the past couple years is incentive enough to receive value from the membership, as utilizing just 2 or 3 discounts pays for a memberís annual dues in itself. However, the real value truly is the wonderful connections and camaraderie that has grown amongst the members, and additionally between the founder, Nicole Blomgren, and all the wonderful Race Organizers and Race Directors across the United States.
To date, Fifty States Half Marathon offers 3 challenges. The original challenge the club was founded on is the 50 States Half Marathon Challenge, with a goal to finish a half marathon in all 50 states and optional DC. The 50 States Endurance Challenge was later created to offer members a mixture, to be able to count a marathon or triathlon in the mix. Members can choose the 50 States Endurance Challenge instead of the 50 States Half Marathon Challenge, with a goal of finishing a combination of half marathons, full marathons, half ironman triathlons, and/or full ironman triathlons in all 50 states. Additionally, the 100 Half Anywhere Challenge was implemented to offer runners who cannot travel as often an alternative option. The 100 Half Anywhere Challenge is to finish a total of 100 half marathons or half ironmans (with an official half marathon finish), anywhere, anytime. Runners can earn the beautiful trophy Fifty States Half Marathon Club awards for both the 100 Half Anywhere Challenge and one of the two 50 State Challenges. Fifty States Half Marathon Club also manages Halfmarathonsearch.com, a popular national half marathon calendar for the United States free to the entire running community.
The year 2012 will wrap up with a December awards event annual meet up for club members in Las Vegas, Nevada, the evening prior to the Las Vegas RockíníRoll running event. Both Amanda and George have traveled extensively over the past year to complete their challenge, and now both continued on to finish their 100 Half Anywhere Challenge.
