Mara Purl Races the 'Mara'-Thon Blog Tour for New Novel

“Where the Heart Lives” and Download of “When Whales Watch” -Just in time for the Holidays, award-winning, bestselling author Purl crosses the finish line of her Double Blog Tour as millions of blog readers follow her journey with book two of the Milford-Haven Novels.

Online PR News – 20-November-2012 – Los Angeles, CA – Attracting large blog subscribers is familiar territory for Mara Purl, author and former Days of Our Lives actress. Her first Double Blog Tour Purl’s blog followers topped 17 million with her book, What the Heart Knows. During that tour more than 14,000 downloads of her first prequel, When Hummers Dream were netted. Today that novel and short story have both won Gold at the USA Book News Best Books. All through November and December, her new short story When Whales Watch will be FREE for all her readers. Purl will be reliving every step of the book tour and double blog tour with her readers . . . a true “Mara-thon.”

Purl’s new Double Blog Tour touting book two, Where the Heart Lives, was originally scheduled for three weeks beginning October 22 but because of the strong demand, her own “blog backs” now extend through the end of the year. Purl’s second virtual book tour includes sites ranging from Women Baby Boomers and Romance Junkies, to entertainment sites such as Examiner.com and BuddyHollywood.com.

“I can’t believe the response,” Purl commented. “On day one of my Double Blog Tour, the downloads moved the stand-alone prequel When Whales Watch dramatically up the Amazon ranking. As a thank you, I am now offering the give-a-ways and contests for blog readers including a audio copy download of my first Milford-Haven Single When Hummers Dream and a copy of the song I wrote, Save the Whales.”

The Double Blog Tour is uniquely Purl’s. Harking back to her professional journalism days with AP and the London Financial Times, she was driven to interview and write about those who blogged about her.

I can’t believe the response,” Purl commented. “On day one of my Double Blog Tour, the downloads moved the stand-alone prequel When Whales Watch dramatically up the Amazon ranking. As a thank you, I am now offering the give-a-ways and contests for blog readers including a audio copy download of my first Milford-Haven Single When Hummers Dream and a copy of the song I wrote, Save the Whales.

“I just loved every visit, but felt there was more,” Purl explains. By creating a reciprocal blog, I interviewed each blogger, and created The Double Blog Tour. I ‘blog back’ each host on my own blog.”

Perhaps it’s her journalism background that accounts for her having a finger on the pulse of current events, as proven by her new short story When Whales Watch. No sooner had the story been published than news of seismic blasting along the California coast hit the headlines.

In addition to being available to her fans virtually, Purl has been visiting bookstores on a physical tour at the same time. Who says you can’t be in two places at once?

“My tour is called Mapping the Journey of Your Heart, and truly has been exactly that. Each bookseller on my road-tour, the many readers I met, and the travel adventures were so extraordinary, that’ll I’ll be ‘blogging back’ till the end of the year!,” Purl exclaims.

The physical book tour also began in October starting at the Tattered Cover in Denver, CO with the launch of Where the Heart Lives. Then Purl traveled to Taos and Albuquerque, New Mexico; ventured to Prescott and Phoenix, Arizona and completed her tour by driving 1,400 miles up and down the California Coast.

“The California tour followed the map on my new book cover, and the travels of my characters in the novel,” Purl explains.

One highlight of the tour was in San Francisco with noted authors Victoria Zackheim, Pam Houston, Elizabeth Rosner, and Zoe Fitzgerald Carter for an evening Purl and Zackheim created called “Women’s Voices,” a multiple-author event at Kepler’s Books.

“Woman’s Voices was a very dynamic event,” Purl noted. “And the physical tour ended exactly where the whole story began—in Cambria, California. I couldn’t have wished for a greater adventure!”
